DuPont Bed

DuPont Bed

This tall post bed, having cabriole rear legs ending in powerful claw and ball feet, was originally made in Philadelphia between 1750 and 1760. In the 18th century this would have been one of the most valued objects one could own and would typically be fitted with expensive fabric hangings. In order for visitors to admire such a fine bed, they were often set up in a main downstairs room.
