Compass Seat Stool

Compass Seat Stool

American foot stools are a rarity, especially ones with cabriole legs. A foot stool with a compass seat is quite unique, with only two known examples. The stool, with its paneled pad feet, is related to other known seating furniture, some of which is believed to be from the Philadelphia shop of Joseph Armitt. The original dates from 1750.
